When was the last time you did something for the first time? Well for me, it was last week. I’ve been thinking of doing it for months now and finally, I got to do it. I’m always fascinated by firing and anything related to the military, which is why when I read that the Tough Guys Shooting Range has an ongoing promo, I didn’t hesitate to grab it.
When I reached the location, I was hesitant to come in because I was not sure if I found the right place. There was a horse outside and I didn’t spot any signage. Nevertheless, when I walked in, I realized that it was fortunately the right place.
The staff immediately greeted me and when I told her that I wanted to avail of their promo, she asked for a valid ID. They need to verify identification because they have different rates for locals and foreigners. She then asked what type of firearm I would like to use. I already thought about it beforehand so I said I would like to try calibre 0.45 ACP and 12GA/shotgun. She gave me 10 and 2 ammo for each firearm, respectively. I requested an extra 5 ammo of the 0.45 ACP for Php 13.00 each.
The promo rates are the following:
- 10 ammo of your caliber choice (.38 SPL, 9MM, .40 S&W or .45 ACP) & 2 ammo of 12GA/shotgun
- 15 ammo of your caliber choice (.38 SPL, 9MM, .40 S&W or .45 ACP) maximum 2 calibers
- Additional ammo:
.38 SPL – P12/ammunition
9MM – P12/ammunition
.40 S&W – P13/ammunition
.45 ACP – P13/ammunition
12GA – P35/ammunition
Upon realizing that that was my first time, I think the staff discreetly decided to assign me to a more experienced firing instructor. Haha! The actual firing range is just what I expected – with lots of ammo shells and used target papers. It was just a bit messy but perhaps it was just how it was supposed to be. I didn’t have any prior experience so I cannot compare.
The firing instructor immediately briefed me on the dos and don’ts and on how to properly aim at my target. He was so patient with me especially when he felt how tensed I was. He was also very attentive; maybe he thought that I might accidentally fire at him. LOL. Honestly, I already forgot what he taught me. I was freakin’ nervous! I realized that using a gun is no joke. It comes with a huge responsibility. I was laughing a lot to shake off my tension but my heart was beating so fast. The firing instructor then suggested skipping the shotgun and sticking with the caliber 0.45. I agreed because I was already too weak to think. Hahaha! I fired a total of 20 ammo.

How to Get There?
The firing range is located at 19 Liberty Avenue, cor. 5th Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City. It is alongside Camp Aguinaldo and across Camp Crame. You can ride the MRT Line 3 and get off at Santolan station. Walk towards Boni Serano Avenue and continue walking until the street after it. When you turn right at the corner, you will find the range on the left side of the street. I hope I described it clearly. I suck at directions but I did my best there. LOL.
And that's it!
It was a nerve-wracking but fun experience. I would actually like to do this every year! I hope that you, too, would find time to seek adventure once in a while. It does not have to be grand. A little escapade like this will surely add a highlight to your week. It sure did to mine.
